Activities

“The Divisional Meeting on Colloid and Interface Chemistry” is held every September with more than 700 attendees every year. Besides, the division is organizing basic courses in the field of colloid science for early career engineers and scientists “The Colloid Learning” in spring, and the forum for promoting interactions among industrial researchers and between industrial and academic researchers “The Colloid Forum for Industry” in summer. The seminar for young researchers is also held before or after the annual meeting. The Seminar on advanced topics “The Colloid Technology Symposium” is usually held in winter.

The division also co-organizes the Western Pacific Colloids Meeting 2015 (WPC 2015) which will be held on November 15-19 in Siem Reap, Cambodia, with the Australian Colloid and Interface Society. This activity is based on the long-standing Japan-Australia Colloidal Symposium, which began in 1992. In July 2015, the 2015 International Conference of Colloids and Interface Science (ICCIS-2015) was held in Taipei, Taiwan. This Conference was co-organized by the Taiwanese Colloid and Interface Society and our Division.

“Colloid & Interface Communication – News Letter from DCSC” has been published quarterly since 1976.

History

The Colloid and Surface Chemistry Division of the Chemical Society of Japan (CSJ) was founded in 1976 and is based on the activity of the annual meeting in this field, which has taken place since 1948. The long history of the division can be seen by the number of the annual meetings of the division; the 70th Commemorative International Conference (entitled “Okinawa Colloids 2019”) was held this year. The membership of the division is 1145 in 2015.
